Hard-to-fill skill pilots will allow Saskatchewan employers to recruit international talent for a profession with specific needs. Eligible jobs under this pilot will include entry-level positions that may require on-the-job training. Sectors with the highest labor demand in Saskatchewan include health, manufacturing, agriculture, ag-tech, construction, hospitality and retail.

"Labor demand in our province is strong, and it is only growing in Saskatchewan with significant economic projects recently announced," Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison said in a media release. "This new hard-to-fill skill pilot - developed in Saskatchewan for Saskatchewan - is going to help employers with progress in our autonomy negotiations with the federal government and more access to international options for hiring staff. This is in addition to a record investment in training and skills development for our provincial staff, as we enter a time of strong growth in response to the global epidemic. ”

Workers nominated through this Saskatchewan Migrant Nominee Program (SINP) stream will be supported by their employers and the community.

  • Keep a full-time, permanent job offer and SINP job approval letter from a registered Saskatchewan employer for a qualified profession;
  • Meet the minimum Canadian official language proficiency level; And,
  • Meet the minimum educational and work experience requirements, including having at least one year of work experience in the same profession as the job offer or six months of work experience in that job in Saskatchewan.

Currently, the release does not say which professions require a qualification, minimum education requirement, or proper language proficiency level.

In order for employers to qualify, they must show that they have made extensive efforts to recruit internally before using pilots for recruitment. They need to demonstrate the requirements and benefits for their business and meet the requirements related to providing settlement assistance for workers. No further details were released.

  • NOC- 9619: Other laborers in processing, manufacturing and utilities,
  • NOC- 6513: Food and beverage servers,
  • NOC- 6525: Hotel front desk clerk, 
  • NOC- 6731: Light duty cleaners,
  • NOC- 6711: Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations,
  • NOC- 6733: Janitors, caretakers and building superintendents,
  • NOC- 1525: Dispatchers,
  • NOC- 7511: Transport truck drivers,

  • Must have at least one year of work experience in the same profession and at least six months of work experience with a Saskatchewan employer.
